Viki Becomes first U.S. Platform to land deal with Indonesian MNC Group
Viki collaborates with MNC Group
Viki, the global TV site powered by fans, announced today that it has partnered with Media Nusantara Citra (MNC), Indonesia’s largest broadcast network, to stream over 500 hours of new shows worldwide on Viki.com and apps. The agreement includes many popular dramas and movies from Indonesia. Viki is the first and only platform in the U.S. on which these titles will be available.

The new programs include some of the most popular to come out of Indonesia in the last several years, like “Kau Yang Berasal Dari Bintang,” the Indonesian remake of global hit Korean drama “My Love From The Star,” premiering on Viki today. The deal also marks the first time MNC has allowed a partner to have worldwide streaming rights and is the greatest volume deal to date for Viki from Southeast Asia.

“We’re thrilled to partner with MNC on our largest deal from Southeast Asia to date,” said Joanne Waage, Viki’s SVP of Programming and Partnerships. “Viki’s vision is to bring together great entertainment and fans everywhere, breaking down cultural and language barriers along the way; this certainly is one great step toward this goal.”

“We are excited about the Viki partnership as we have a strong belief in digital media and a global video platform like Viki for the growth of our contents business, one of the various avenues to entertain our audiences in global markets,” said Jimmy Kim, Senior Vice President, MNC Contents, Licenses and Events.
MNC shows are available worldwide (outside Indonesia) on Viki. In addition to “Kau Yang Berasal Dari Bintang” and “7/24,” top TV dramas include “Fortune Cookie,” “Jakarta Love Story,” “Shoot from the Sky,” “Still Not a Typical Love Story,” “Brownies,” “About Him,” “Chasing the Sun”  and others.
